Children’s Ministry

Grace West Kids (GW Kids)

We believe children are a gift from God, and we celebrate the family as the primary environment where children are spiritually nurtured. At Grace West Mission Church, our children’s ministry is supplemental to what ideally happens in every child’s home – fathers and mothers “bringing their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4).

At GW Kids, we provide a safe place on Sunday mornings where the gospel of Jesus Christ is taught. Children are reminded that they are both beautiful and broken and in need of the saving grace and love of Jesus. As a community of faith, we welcome parents and children to worship together, and we consider the (even noisy) presence of children in our worship service to be a blessing to our entire body. While our facilities are not as accommodating to children with physical disabilities as we might like, we are committed to working with parents whose children have special needs.

Do you have a child with a disability? We would love to partner with you in ministering to your child. Contact us for more information.

We also understand that many parents look forward to an undistracted time of worship every week. Students are corporately dismissed from the service and then accompanied by their teachers to their respective classrooms. We use Christ-centered, chronological curricula for our children’s programming. We offer the following classes on Sunday mornings:

  • Nursery (6-24 months)

  • Preschool (2 to 4 years old)

  • Elementary (5 to 10 years old)

GW Kids Safety and Health

We want to reassure you that we take the care and safety of your children very seriously. In addition to safety and health policies and protocols implemented throughout our ministry, our volunteers go through a 4-step screening process which includes a written application, interview, reference checks, and vulnerable sector police check. All volunteers are expected to complete an abuse prevention and protection training process. As an organization we understand that it is critical to develop clear policies, procedures, and expectations as we serve in a position of trust with the church.

Family Milestones

Infant Baptism

We celebrate the sacrament of baptism for all who enter the Christian faith, including the infants of believing parents. If you are interested to learn more about infant baptism or would like to have your infant baptized, please email Jenn (jenn@gracewest.to) to coordinate a meeting with our pastor.

Profession of Faith

We offer Communicants Class geared towards students Gr. 6-8. This class will prepare students to participate in the Lord's Supper and become communicant members. After the completion of the Communicants Class, students who would like to move towards a public Profession of Faith will be interviewed by our pastor. We aim to offer communicant classes once a year for GW Kids graduates. To receive more information about this year’s Communicants Class, please email Jenn (jenn@gracewest.to).
